En aquel entonces, el hospital no ofrec\u00eda ning\u00fan tipo de musicoterapia\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Eso fue en 2017. Despu\u00e9s de dos a\u00f1os de remisi\u00f3n, Denielle y su familia esperaban haber superado lo peor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Pero entonces, recuerda Denielle, \u201cUn d\u00eda empec\u00e9 a sentir un dolor muy intenso. Mi madre me llev\u00f3 de urgencia al hospital de emergencias. Volv\u00ed al Hospital Infantil Lucile Packard de Stanford y all\u00ed me diagnosticaron mi segundo c\u00e1ncer, un sarcoma epitelioide\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Denielle conoc\u00eda nuestro hospital. Conoc\u00eda a los especialistas en desarrollo infantil y disfrutaba pasar tiempo con los maestros en la escuela del hospital. Pero esta vez era diferente: est\u00e1bamos en medio de una pandemia. Ning\u00fan amigo, ni siquiera su hermana, pod\u00eda visitarla. El uso de mascarillas y el distanciamiento social eran obligatorios debido a la COVID-19. Como explica Denielle: \u00abNo puedes ver a otros ni\u00f1os, ni a las enfermeras ni al personal cara a cara, y no tienes esa conexi\u00f3n completa\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Las salas de juegos tambi\u00e9n estaban cerradas, pero por suerte, la musicoterapeuta de Denielle, Emily, la atendi\u00f3 en su habitaci\u00f3n. \u00abDenielle se pone muy ansiosa durante las infusiones. Puede saborear la medicina, y eso le provoca n\u00e1useas\u00bb, explica Lisette, la madre de Denielle. \u00abEse d\u00eda, cuando conocimos a Emily, todo cambi\u00f3 para ella\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cDije que quer\u00eda aprender a tocar el ukelele y me ense\u00f1\u00f3 un par de canciones. Luego, durante todo mi ingreso, no par\u00e9 de tocar\u201d. Denielle libr\u00f3 una larga batalla durante su segundo ciclo de tratamientos contra el c\u00e1ncer en el Hospital Infantil Packard. \u201cTocar el ukelele me ayud\u00f3 much\u00edsimo. La m\u00fasica me ayud\u00f3 a superar el momento m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil de mi vida\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Denielle termin\u00f3 su tratamiento de quimioterapia en julio de 2020 y estamos muy felices de anunciar que \u00a1ahora est\u00e1 libre de c\u00e1ncer! Acaba de celebrar su cumplea\u00f1os n\u00famero 13 en casa, \u00bfy qu\u00e9 pidi\u00f3? \u00a1Un ukelele nuevo, por supuesto!<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cLos Servicios de Apoyo Infantil tuvieron un gran impacto en m\u00ed y en mi familia.
