Eso fue as\u00ed hasta el d\u00eda en que naci\u00f3 Avi. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cSupe de inmediato que algo andaba mal. No recib\u00eda suficiente ox\u00edgeno. Sali\u00f3 azul\u201d, relata Kristin sobre esos aterradores primeros momentos. \u201cLa doctora dijo que pod\u00eda o\u00edr el soplo de su coraz\u00f3n sin estetoscopio. Si no se trata, Avi podr\u00eda sufrir un deterioro significativo del desarrollo neurol\u00f3gico o incluso la muerte.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cEse tambi\u00e9n fue un momento muy dif\u00edcil para nuestras hijas. Las hab\u00edamos preparado para lo que les esperaba cuando naciera su hermanito. Pero no nos hab\u00edamos preparado para esto\u201d, dice Kristin. \u201cFue dif\u00edcil para m\u00ed estar lejos. Todav\u00eda estaba en el otro hospital recuper\u00e1ndome de la ces\u00e1rea. Nuestro m\u00e9dico, Jonathan Palma, nos hablaba todo el tiempo que necesit\u00e1bamos. Ten\u00edamos much\u00edsimas preguntas y a Rush le gusta mucho la informaci\u00f3n y la comprensi\u00f3n, y el Dr. Palma fue muy paciente.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Despu\u00e9s de unos d\u00edas, Maya y Mira pudieron venir a visitar nuestro hospital y conocer a Avi por primera vez.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cTuvimos unas enfermeras incre\u00edbles. Una de ellas ayud\u00f3 a nuestra hija a sostener a Avi\u201d, dice Kristin. \u201cCon cuidado, movi\u00f3 todos esos intrincados cables y los hizo lo m\u00e1s c\u00f3modos posible para que pudiera tener ese momento especial de sostener a su hermanito\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Despu\u00e9s de 10 d\u00edas, Avi finalmente sali\u00f3 de la UCIN. La familia atribuye la experiencia del equipo del Hospital Infantil Packard a Avi y a su familia. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cNo hay muchas UCIN de Nivel 4 en la zona; el Hospital Infantil Packard es una de las pocas. Ah\u00ed es donde se trasladan los casos m\u00e1s cr\u00edticos. Para m\u00ed es importante que la gente entienda que no se puede dejar a estos beb\u00e9s en cualquier sitio\u201d, dice Rushabh. \u201cPara m\u00ed, pasar todas esas noches en la UCIN y conocer a otras familias\u2026 la gente viene de lejos. Mi esperanza es poder apoyar y ampliar la capacidad, porque es fundamental contar con el nivel de atenci\u00f3n que ofrece Packard\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">La atenci\u00f3n en el hospital se extendi\u00f3 a las hermanas de Avi. Las ni\u00f1as pod\u00edan escapar del ambiente hospitalario yendo a la sala de juegos y realizando proyectos de arte. Incluso recibieron mu\u00f1ecas tejidas y donadas por un grupo de voluntarios.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cNo es que necesit\u00e1ramos una mu\u00f1eca ni una manta, sino la idea de que alguien se tomara el tiempo de pensar en ti y en tu hijo\u201d, dice Kristin. \u201cLos donantes y colaboradores nos hicieron sentir muy queridos en nuestro momento de necesidad\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Antes de irse a casa, la familia recibi\u00f3 instrucciones sobre c\u00f3mo detectar signos de insuficiencia card\u00edaca. Avi sufri\u00f3 de HPPRN durante m\u00e1s de seis meses. Su funci\u00f3n cognitiva a\u00fan est\u00e1 bajo control, pero todo parece ir bien.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Es s\u00faper sociable. Le encantan los cabritos, El Rey Le\u00f3n y a sus hermanas. Tambi\u00e9n le encantan las fiestas y corretea por toda la casa diciendo: &quot;\u00a1Fiesta!&quot;. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u00a1Avi ser\u00e1 el alma de la fiesta cuando nos reunamos el 18 de junio!
