Parker para la Investigaci\u00f3n de Alergias y Asma de Stanford<\/a> Tiene excelentes noticias que compartir sobre sus ensayos cl\u00ednicos en curso de inmunoterapia oral (ITO) con apoyo de donantes: <strong>73% de los pacientes sienten que su participaci\u00f3n (tanto los ni\u00f1os como sus padres) ha mejorado su calidad de vida.<\/strong> En un estudio de seguimiento a largo plazo, los investigadores contactaron a 154 pacientes que hab\u00edan participado en estos ensayos en los \u00faltimos cinco a\u00f1os y se alegraron mucho al saber que la mayor\u00eda todav\u00eda puede comer los alimentos a los que eran al\u00e9rgicos antes de su tratamiento.<\/p>\n<h2>\u00bfC\u00f3mo funciona la inmunoterapia oral?<\/h2>\n<p>Los estudios de OIT se realizan en dos etapas: en la primera, cada paciente recibe una dosis baja y constante de exposici\u00f3n a los al\u00e9rgenos para desarrollar tolerancia. Con el tiempo, el tratamiento se intensifica gradualmente hasta la segunda etapa, donde los pacientes reciben una dosis media o alta. Una vez alcanzada la dosis m\u00e1xima, la mantienen durante semanas o incluso a\u00f1os. Mediante este enfoque lento y gradual, la mayor\u00eda de los pacientes se desensibilizan a los alimentos a los que antes eran al\u00e9rgicos.<\/p>\n<p>Estas terapias est\u00e1n revolucionando el tratamiento de ni\u00f1os y adultos con alergias alimentarias m\u00faltiples, y tienen su origen en Stanford. Ya en 2011, la Dra. Kari Nadeau y el Centro Sean N. (Se estima que 301.300 millones de ni\u00f1os con alergias alimentarias tienen m\u00e1s de una alergia alimentaria).<\/p>\n<h2>Mejor con productos biol\u00f3gicos<\/h2>\n<p>Un grupo de m\u00e9dicos de las facultades de medicina de Stanford, UCLA y UCSD lidera la investigaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica para encontrar una cura, con un enfoque colaborativo. Juntos, llevan a cabo el ensayo COMBINE. Este estudio eval\u00faa c\u00f3mo dos medicamentos \u2014uno para eliminar las alergias alimentarias y otro para prevenir su reaparici\u00f3n\u2014 pueden suprimir la respuesta al\u00e9rgica en pacientes con m\u00faltiples alergias alimentarias.
