Philanthropy Leadership Program

Stanford Medicine Children’s Health care team members—from physicians and administrators to social workers and nursesplay a vital role in advancing philanthropy. In 2022, our Foundation launched the Philanthropy Leadership Program (PLP) to equip our partners with the fundraising knowledge and communications skills necessary to engage with our donor community.

Inspiring Generosity

By sharing stories of the exceptional clinical care and groundbreaking research happening at Stanford Medicine Children’s Health, we can inspire donors to join us on our mission and shape a healthier future for all kids and moms.

Philanthropy Leadership Program participants:

Understand philanthropy

Learn the business model of fundraising and their unique role in establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with donors.

Practice their skills

Participate in real-world fundraising activities, including donor meetings, hospital and lab tours, and speaking engagements at events.

Seek feedback

Benefit from interactive sessions led by fundraising experts and receive feedback from leadership, including board directors and past PLP participants.

Connect with their peers

Join a lively network of health care professionals committed to advancing care and cures through philanthropy.

Hear from our community

Stanford Medicine Children’s Health care team members discuss their experience in our fundraising training program.

Join a future cohort

Leaders at the Stanford School of Medicine, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford, and the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health nominate participants. We build each year’s cohort to represent our strategic fundraising priorities and the wide-ranging social identities and clinical focuses at our hospital.

Our cohorts learn in a dynamic, discussion-based environment with the opportunity to engage in donor role-plays, storytelling workshops, and one-on-one executive coaching. Partnered with a Foundation fundraiser, each participant completes a final project, a real-world donor scenario that puts their new skills into practice.

Our award-winning program has trained 23 care team members—with another eight joining us in fall 2025. We cannot wait to see the remarkable impact these partners will have in our community and beyond!
