Al principio, parec\u00eda que solo se aclaraba la garganta. Durante las semanas siguientes, la tos empeor\u00f3 hasta el punto de provocarle arcadas e incluso v\u00f3mitos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Fue entonces cuando sus padres, Kathleen y Paul, supieron que esto no era normal: necesitaban ver a un especialista.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Esta era Hana el domingo 8 de febrero de 2014, siendo su yo sonriente y feliz.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">As\u00ed estaba Hana, dos d\u00edas despu\u00e9s, luciendo m\u00e1s let\u00e1rgica.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Y as\u00ed era Hana el mi\u00e9rcoles en el Hospital Infantil Benioff de la UCSF.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">\u201cMi hija parec\u00eda deteriorarse r\u00e1pidamente. Su coraz\u00f3n presentaba una insuficiencia card\u00edaca grave. La atendieron durante horas, hasta bien entrada la noche. La situaci\u00f3n se ve\u00eda mal, y luego a peor, y a la ma\u00f1ana siguiente nos sentaron y nos dijeron que nuestra hija necesitar\u00eda un trasplante de coraz\u00f3n\u201d, recuerda Kathleen, la madre de Hana. \u201cEst\u00e1bamos en shock, y nos dol\u00eda que una tos persistente la hubiera llevado a necesitar un trasplante de coraz\u00f3n. Un d\u00eda despu\u00e9s, nuestra hija fue trasladada en avi\u00f3n al Packard Children&#039;s\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Hana ten\u00eda el coraz\u00f3n agrandado y su ventr\u00edculo izquierdo no bombeaba sangre eficazmente. Con medicaci\u00f3n y un estrecho seguimiento, pudo permanecer en casa durante casi un a\u00f1o antes de ser ingresada de nuevo en el hospital. Sin embargo, finalmente, el pulm\u00f3n de Hana colaps\u00f3 por el peso del coraz\u00f3n y tuvo que ser sometida a una cirug\u00eda a coraz\u00f3n abierto. Le colocaron un dispositivo de asistencia ventricular, llamado Coraz\u00f3n de Berl\u00edn, y su nombre fue a\u00f1adido a la lista de espera para un trasplante de coraz\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">A pesar de todos los altibajos, Kathleen agradece a las enfermeras y al personal por su extraordinario cuidado de Hana. Hizo vendajes para el vendaje Berlin Heart de Hana, que usamos en lugar del vendaje Ace. Creo que tambi\u00e9n fue muy gratificante para Jenny\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Tras seis meses de espera, Hana finalmente recibi\u00f3 su nuevo coraz\u00f3n. Pero la lucha por su salud a\u00fan no ha terminado. Hana contin\u00faa recibiendo tratamiento y atenci\u00f3n para garantizar que su nuevo coraz\u00f3n funcione correctamente.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">&nbsp;Lo m\u00e1s dif\u00edcil es conocer a tantas familias con tantas historias desafiantes, tristes o aterradoras. Me destroza el coraz\u00f3n. Luego, cuando le tomo la presi\u00f3n a Hana, est\u00e1 alta, y empiezo a preocuparme y mi miedo y mi mente se vuelven locos pensando en lo que podr\u00eda pasar porque lo he o\u00eddo, visto y vivido. Entonces, recuerdo la verdad: est\u00e1 sentada en la cama, linda y feliz, y la quiero. Eso es todo lo que s\u00e9 ahora mismo, as\u00ed que d\u00e9jalo ir y disfr\u00fatalo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Hana y su familia est\u00e1n deseando comenzar su nueva etapa con su nuevo coraz\u00f3n, as\u00ed como con su futura hermanita. \u00a1Esperan una ni\u00f1a en mayo!
