Participantes anteriores en el Programa de Pasant\u00edas de Pediatr\u00eda en Stanford (PIPS)<\/a> Comentan que PIPS les ayud\u00f3 a forjar contactos, les mostr\u00f3 diversas opciones profesionales m\u00e9dicas e incluso les inspir\u00f3 a ser mejores personas. Este entusiasmo por la ciencia es posible gracias a la generosidad de donantes como la Fundaci\u00f3n Jae S. Lim, que comenz\u00f3 a brindar apoyo en 2023.<\/p>\n

El programa de pr\u00e1cticas de verano de seis semanas introduce a estudiantes de pen\u00faltimo y \u00faltimo a\u00f1o de secundaria de toda el \u00c1rea de la Bah\u00eda al mundo de la ciencia, la medicina y la investigaci\u00f3n. Dise\u00f1ado para estudiantes con poca o ninguna experiencia previa en investigaci\u00f3n, PIPS ofrece aprendizaje pr\u00e1ctico, mentor\u00eda de profesores e investigadores de Stanford y la oportunidad de realizar un proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n real.<\/p>\n

La Fundaci\u00f3n Jae S. Lim ha financiado la participaci\u00f3n de 21 estudiantes en PIPS durante los \u00faltimos tres a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

\u201cEl apoyo de la Fundaci\u00f3n Jae S. Lim nos permite ofrecer becas a estudiantes de bajos recursos, brind\u00e1ndoles la libertad de sumergirse por completo en la investigaci\u00f3n\u201d, afirma Allison Guerin, MEd, EdD, directora del programa de pr\u00e1cticas. \u201cPara muchos de nuestros estudiantes, esta beca reemplaza los ingresos que necesitan para contribuir al sustento familiar y cubrir los gastos del a\u00f1o escolar\u201d.<\/p>\n
