Brenda Porter, profesora asociada de neurolog\u00eda y destacada experta nacional en epilepsia pedi\u00e1trica. \u201cExisten muchas opciones terap\u00e9uticas, pero el reto reside en diagnosticar correctamente el trastorno y luego identificar la mejor terapia\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de brindar a los becarios experiencia cl\u00ednica especializada y la oportunidad de realizar investigaciones bajo la gu\u00eda de Porter, esta beca es especialmente importante porque ayuda a atraer a los mejores neur\u00f3logos al campo y crea una l\u00ednea de futuros l\u00edderes cl\u00ednicos y de investigaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>La beca se basa en una s\u00f3lida base dentro de nuestro programa de neurolog\u00eda infantil, el m\u00e1s grande de la Costa Oeste, y proporcionar\u00e1 hasta dos a\u00f1os de financiaci\u00f3n garantizada a los becarios que cursen una beca en epilepsia pedi\u00e1trica. Los becarios que ampl\u00eden su trabajo a otros centros de investigaci\u00f3n seguir\u00e1n colaborando con investigadores de Stanford para lograr un impacto a nivel nacional.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTenemos un excelente abanico de investigaciones prometedoras para el futuro, gracias al compromiso filantr\u00f3pico de Judi\u201d, afirm\u00f3 el Dr. Paul Fisher, profesor de Neurooncolog\u00eda Pedi\u00e1trica de la Familia Beirne y jefe de la divisi\u00f3n de neurolog\u00eda infantil. \u201cExisten muy pocos programas como este en Estados Unidos. El trabajo de nuestros becarios aportar\u00e1 nuevos conocimientos sobre la epilepsia y conducir\u00e1 al desarrollo de nuevas terapias para esta enfermedad a menudo incomprendida. Este apoyo es fundamental para el desarrollo de epilept\u00f3logos pedi\u00e1tricos talentosos que buscan mejorar la vida de los ni\u00f1os con epilepsia.
