Esa ma\u00f1ana a las <a      href=\"http:\/\/www.summerscamper.org\/\">Carrera de verano<\/a>Robert super\u00f3 a otros 2.019 corredores y se llev\u00f3 el tercer puesto en los 5 km.<\/p>\n<p>Este aplauso de Isabel significa m\u00e1s de lo que imaginas. Hace apenas unos a\u00f1os, apenas pod\u00eda hablar. Hoy, con tu apoyo, ha logrado un progreso incre\u00edble.<\/p>\n<p>De beb\u00e9, a Isabel le diagnosticaron en el Hospital Infantil Packard una forma rara de epilepsia llamada espasmos infantiles. Este trastorno convulsivo afecta principalmente a beb\u00e9s durante su primer a\u00f1o de vida y se diagnostica anualmente en unos 2500 ni\u00f1os en todo Estados Unidos.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Los ni\u00f1os con este trastorno a menudo tambi\u00e9n presentan discapacidades del desarrollo y autismo. Para Isabel, nuestro hospital le ha brindado la atenci\u00f3n vital que necesita, abarcando seis especialidades, incluyendo neurolog\u00eda, lo que le ha ayudado a controlar un nuevo tipo de convulsi\u00f3n que se present\u00f3 al llegar a la pubertad. Adem\u00e1s, Isabel recibe fisioterapia, terapia ocupacional y terapia del habla semanalmente.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIsabel ha avanzado much\u00edsimo\u201d, dice Robert. \u201cCuando era mucho m\u00e1s peque\u00f1a, ten\u00eda dificultades para hablar, y la mayor\u00eda de las veces solo mis padres y yo pod\u00edamos entenderla. Isabel ha pasado horas y horas en terapia del habla durante a\u00f1os, y ahora la diferencia es incre\u00edble. Todos la entienden, y ahora est\u00e1 aprendiendo a hablar con el pensamiento completo, algo que habr\u00eda sido imposible cuando empez\u00f3\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2>Expres\u00e1ndose, inspirando a otros<\/h2>\n<p>\u00bfPero la terapia favorita de Isabel? La musicoterapia.
