Su objetivo era brindar atenci\u00f3n a adolescentes y j\u00f3venes en riesgo dondequiera que estuvieran: en la escuela, en los parques y en la calle.<\/p>\n<p>Desde su primera salida hace 20 a\u00f1os, la Unidad M\u00f3vil de Salud para Adolescentes, financiada por donantes, ha brindado a m\u00e1s de 4500 j\u00f3venes sin hogar y sin seguro m\u00e9dico del \u00c1rea de la Bah\u00eda acceso a servicios integrales de atenci\u00f3n primaria de salud, que abarcan desde vacunas y ex\u00e1menes f\u00edsicos hasta planificaci\u00f3n familiar y consejer\u00eda en salud mental. El equipo de atenci\u00f3n, que incluye un m\u00e9dico, una enfermera practicante, un asistente m\u00e9dico, un trabajador social y un dietista titulado, se centra en las fortalezas de cada paciente, en lugar de sus debilidades, manteni\u00e9ndolos comprometidos y enfocados en mejorar su propia salud.<\/p>\n<p>Gracias al generoso apoyo de los donantes, todos los servicios, medicamentos y suministros de la Unidad de Salud para Adolescentes son gratuitos para los pacientes. El programa atiende actualmente a 400 pacientes \u00fanicos cada a\u00f1o, de los cuales aproximadamente el 70 % regresa para consultas regulares.<\/p>\n<p>El a\u00f1o pasado, el programa inaugur\u00f3 una cl\u00ednica m\u00f3vil completamente nueva y de vanguardia, equipada con dos salas de examen, tecnolog\u00eda interactiva y acceso a especialistas del Packard Children&#039;s mediante videochat en vivo. Ammerman, director m\u00e9dico del programa, estima que cada d\u00f3lar invertido en prevenci\u00f3n e intervenci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de la Unidad M\u00f3vil para Adolescentes ahorra $10 en futuros costos m\u00e9dicos.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLes agradezco profundamente su apoyo a este programa que brinda un sustento a tantas personas\u201d, dice Ammerman. \u201cHa sido una experiencia reveladora y he aprendido que nunca hay que rendirse con un ni\u00f1o.
