Posteriormente, otra amiga de la familia se convirti\u00f3 en una visitante frecuente del Hospital Infantil Lucile Packard desde su infancia y contin\u00faa recibiendo los servicios que solo nuestro hospital ofrece.&nbsp;<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>Patt, voluntaria comunitaria con muchos a\u00f1os de experiencia, se inspir\u00f3 en la compasi\u00f3n y el cuidado que presenci\u00f3 en nuestro hospital y comenz\u00f3 a trabajar como voluntaria en la Caja de Ahorros de San Jos\u00e9 Auxiliary. Los Brust tambi\u00e9n decidieron hacer una donaci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de una cuenta IRA para donaciones ben\u00e9ficas al Fondo de Donaci\u00f3n de Auxiliary. Despu\u00e9s de los 70 a\u00f1os y medio, los titulares de una cuenta IRA deben realizar distribuciones m\u00ednimas anuales. Estas distribuciones se consideran ingresos y tributan como tales. Sin embargo, dado que el administrador de la cuenta IRA de los Brust realiz\u00f3 una distribuci\u00f3n directamente al Fondo de Donaci\u00f3n, esta cantidad no tribut\u00f3 como ingresos. Para los Brust, esta era la forma m\u00e1s eficiente de donar desde el punto de vista fiscal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Patt dice: \u201cNuestro regalo ser\u00e1 utilizado a perpetuidad ya que los ingresos del Fondo de Donaci\u00f3n se destinan anualmente a programas importantes del hospital\u201d.<br \/>&nbsp;<br      \/>Aunque sus hijos y nietos se han mudado, Patt y Barney se han mantenido muy involucrados en su comunidad de San Jos\u00e9. Ambos son exalumnos de la Universidad de Santa Clara y Barney ayuda a preparar comidas en Martha&#039;s Kitchen todas las semanas.
