Durante su concurso anual de presentaci\u00f3n de proyectos, los innovadores compiten para recibir asesoramiento, asistencia en la creaci\u00f3n de prototipos y capacitaci\u00f3n en comercializaci\u00f3n por parte del PDC y expertos de la industria, con una financiaci\u00f3n inicial de hasta 100\u00a0000 d\u00f3lares.<\/p>\n<p>Por ejemplo, un equipo de innovadores pedi\u00e1tricos observ\u00f3 una gran disparidad en la forma de fijar los cat\u00e9teres en adultos y beb\u00e9s. Anteriormente, la pr\u00e1ctica recomendada para las enfermeras en las unidades de cuidados intensivos neonatales (UCIN) consist\u00eda en usar cinta adhesiva para fijar los cat\u00e9teres del cord\u00f3n umbilical de sus peque\u00f1os pacientes. Mientras tanto, en el \u00e1mbito de los adultos, las enfermeras utilizaban un protocolo mucho m\u00e1s seguro y estandarizado.
