He likes to play a lot of sports, he likes to read a lot, he&rsquo;s      just really playful. He&rsquo;s a really sweet kid.<\/p>\n<p>He had pneumonia.      They ran more tests and they determined that he was having liver      failure.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adelita, Xavr&rsquo;s mom:<\/strong> When we      called [the hospital in] Carson City they said, &ldquo;Oh we cannot take him. If he needs      a liver transplant, we don&rsquo;t have the machines, we don&rsquo;t have a      donor.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Juan, Xavr&rsquo;s dad:<\/strong>      They told us there wasn&rsquo;t anything they could      do.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marlanea, Soraya&rsquo;s mom:<\/strong> Soraya      was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. And with all her conditions, I can&rsquo;t      work. We were actually homeless. We were sleeping in our      car.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zoie, Hyrum&rsquo;s mom:<\/strong> Hyrum had      some spots on his face and his hands. So we went to the doctor (in Monterey). The doctor      called us back and said, &ldquo;You&rsquo;re going to go up to Stanford. This is      beyond me and they&rsquo;re going to take care of      you.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shannon, Wyatt&rsquo;s mom:<\/strong>      Right away a specialist asked to see photographs of him. She came by to see him. She      recommended we come to Lucile Packard. Shortly after they did the skin biopsy and within a      couple of days they got the results back saying that he had      mastocytosis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Juan, Xavr&rsquo;s dad:<\/strong> In      four days it went from, &ldquo;Your kid is not talking, not moving, he&rsquo;s about      to die,&rdquo; to&mdash;they were able to get the liver to start working      again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zoie, Hyrum&rsquo;s mom:<\/strong> At about 7      a.m. my husband dropped me off, and I said, &ldquo;I&rsquo;ll see you in a couple of      hours.&rdquo; And by 10 o&rsquo;clock Hyrum was getting      chemotherapy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marlanea, Soraya&rsquo;s mom:<\/strong>      She has her own staff that she wants. She just starts naming off all the people that are      supposed to just cater to her no matter what time she arrives at the      hospital.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shannon, Wyatt&rsquo;s mom:<\/strong>      We&rsquo;re really lucky because I don&rsquo;t think we would have had a diagnosis if      we didn&rsquo;t live here. They have the expertise that other hospitals      don&rsquo;t.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zoie, Hyrum&rsquo;s mom:<\/strong>      This was exactly the place that we needed to be.
