Discrimination towards children and adults with disabilities—ableism—is extremely common in health care. Personal stories from families of children with disability and/or medical complexity can teach doctors to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to deliver quality care by building meaningful relationships between providers and families.

Do you have a story about your experiences with your child with a disability and/or medical complexity in health care? Do you wish you could use that story to teach medical students and residents?

The University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Bluebird Way Foundation are searching for these stories and will use them as they host quarterly virtual Family-Led Academic Grand (FLAG) Rounds, which flips the traditional model of Grand Rounds and adopts families as educators. Families will write and present their stories to foster knowledge, skills, and abilities among medical students and residents.

To learn more about this project and the call for stories, join the FLAG Rounds FAQ webinar on August 22, 2024, at 12 pm PT.

Ready to share your story? Submit your story now.
