Foundation Launches Online Calendar to Promote Children’s Health

Events Cover San Mateo, Santa Clara Counties

PALO ALTO – Prenatal classes, lectures on coping with preteens, and sign-ups for free health insurance are among the hundreds of events listed on KIDSCAL.ORG, a new online calendar of children’s health events for San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.

Sponsored by the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health, the free calendar offers a central source of information about community activities related to the physical, emotional, behavioral, and mental health of children. The calendar includes classes for parents of children of all ages, support groups, conferences, health fairs, fundraisers, legislative hearings, and an array of other activities sponsored by area nonprofit organizations.

“So many wonderful events in our community focus on the well being of children,” said Stephen Peeps, president and CEO of the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health. “As a foundation devoted exclusively to children’s health, we hope this central source of event information will raise our community’s awareness about the health needs of our children, and encourage people to take advantage of these many opportunities.”

Calendar users can browse through event listings in numerous ways, including by date, by city, by event subject, and by target audience. Users also can search the entire event database, and e-mail events to others.

Nonprofit and governmental organizations in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties may sign up to post their children’s health events without cost at KIDSCAL.ORG.

The calendar is available at www.kidscal.org or by visiting the foundation home page, www.lpfch.org. For more information about the calendar, please call (650) 724-5778 or e-mail events@lpfch.org.
