Cynthia Klustner’s connection to Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford dates back to the 1980s, when she started her career at Hewlett-Packard Company.
“I am so fortunate to have met Lucile during a Hewlett-Packard dinner in Palo Alto when I was a very new employee,” says Cynthia. Lucile Packard, the wife of Hewlett-Packard co-founder David Packard, was a philanthropist and our hospital’s namesake and founder. “Learning about Packard Children’s Hospital that evening inspired me to volunteer and contribute.”
Cynthia donated to Packard Children’s Hospital annually over the years. When she moved on to work at First Tech Federal Credit Union, Cynthia facilitated the company’s corporate volunteer program at our hospital, which resulted in an even greater impact.
Now that Cynthia is retired, she hasn’t slowed down. She makes an annual gift as a Circles of Leadership member and volunteers at the hospital with Child Life and Creative Arts, offering comfort and fun to children and families through toys, crafts, and games.
“Our goal is to put smiles on patients’ faces. It is incredibly rewarding to help make someone’s life better, even if just for a few minutes.”
Cynthia has also made a bequest to the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health through her estate plan. Bequests are an easy and popular way to include philanthropy as part of the estate planning process. Cynthia’s time, talents, and treasures have touched countless patient families over the last 40 years, and now her support will endure for the future families we serve.
