We are so grateful for our community members who find thoughtful and creative ways to fundraise for Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. From bake sales to toy drives, our Champions for Children can do it all! Take a look at how some of our most inspiring, and youngest, Champions raise funds for Packard Children’s.
Abigail – Pig for Packard
Abigail, 10, is a 4-H member and a generous patient. She sold her pig, Rosie, at a junior livestock auction at the Santa Cruz County Fair and donated a portion of her proceeds to benefit research for our PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) Clinic. She thanked each of the 18 individuals who contributed to her fundraiser by handwriting thank you notes. We want to thank you, Abigail. This may be our first pig-raiser!
Molly’s Smile Stones
Molly’s story of gratitude and generosity starts with $20 and a book titled The Giving Crusade, which inspires and empowers children to make a difference in their communities. Molly started her own giving crusade and purchased paint pens to create smile stones. She sold over 200 bright and colorful stones to friends and family, raising more than $1,250. With the funds, she was able to donate toys to our hospital. She continues to create smiles stones to support Packard Children’s through her Virtual Toy Drive. Thank you, Molly, for bringing smiles to our patients and families!
Burlingame High School Panthers Tackle Adolescent Cancer
Last October, Burlingame High School’s football team collected pledges for every point scored in every game they played. Thanks to their hard work on and off the field, their campaign, Panthers Against Cancer, raised nearly $9,000 for the Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program at our hospital, which hosts activities encouraging patients to interact and bond over shared experiences. Thank you, Panthers, for coming together as a team and fundraising for young people in our care.
Maisy Puffs
Maisy is a longtime supporter of Packard Children’s. In 2015, when Maisy was 7 years old, she started designing faux fur puff headbands for fun. Her business, Maisy Puffs, drew such an overwhelming response that she wanted to give back to her community. Since then, Maisy has raised $11,000 for pediatric cancer research at Stanford University School of Medicine. Her most recent fundraising endeavor was also covered by local news! We thank you, Maisy, for your ongoing commitment to finding a cure for pediatric cancer.
