This month, the Nevada-based Caroline's Loving Life Foundation will host their annual Caroline Graham-Lamberts Memorial Golf Classic to raise money towards two scholarships that support students at the Stanford University School of Medicine and University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine (UNR Med) pursuing careers in pediatrics.
Caroline’s Loving Life Foundation was established in honor of Caroline Graham-Lamberts, a bright and caring resident at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford who passed away five years ago. Through the kind generosity of Caroline’s family and friends, an academic scholarship was established at Stanford University School of Medicine to support residents pursuing careers in pediatric medicine by funding grants for community outreach projects.
The projects are part of Stanford Advocacy Track (StAT), an integral part of the Pediatric Advocacy Program. The Pediatric Advocacy Program works with a variety of community partners to improve child health and reduce health disparities in Silicon Valley and its surrounding communities, providing valuable research and learning opportunities for residents. Residents in the StAT program develop strong community partnerships by first asking and listening to community priorities. To date, Caroline’s Loving Life Foundation has helped fund more than 20 residents’ projects, providing invaluable learning, community engagement, and advocacy opportunities.
“Caroline was dedicated to improving children’s health,” said Elana Lee Graham, president of Caroline’s Loving Life Foundation, “through Caroline’s Loving Life Foundation, we continue to support the work we know Caroline would have loved to be involved in herself.”
Caroline Graham-Lamberts grew up in Nevada and was a kind and intelligent young woman who knew from an early age that she wanted to study medicine. During her second year of medical school at UNR Med, Caroline was diagnosed with breast cancer. Caroline defied the odds, and even in the midst of treatment, she, along with her husband, Remy William Lamberts, graduated medical school with honors. Caroline and Remy earned prestigious residencies at Stanford, and Caroline began her residency in pediatric medicine at Packard Children’s while continuing chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Sadly, the Stanford community lost an inspiring and dedicated resident when Caroline passed in October 2012, but her memory and impact live on through the projects funded in her honor.
We extend our sincerest gratitude and appreciation to Caroline’s friends, family, and the Loving Life Foundation.
Thank you for your continued support!
