Thank you to the more than 3,800 individuals who ran, walked, Scampered, sponsored, and volunteered with us on Sunday, June 25 and made the 7th annual Summer Scamper a success.
You helped us raise nearly $500,000 for our hospital and the child health programs at Stanford University School of Medicine. Since 2011, Summer Scamper has raised about $2.5 million for children’s health!
Special thanks to our Summer Scamper sponsors: Redwood Electric Group; C.M. Capital Foundation; Stanford Federal Credit Union; Hercules Capital; Joseph J. Albanese, Inc.; Equilar; Sheraton-Weston Palo Alto; and Stanford Blood Center.

Summer Scamper Patient Hero Spotlight: Vivi
Two-year-old Vivi seems like a spitfire now, greeting new friends with a wave and enthusiastic, “Hi!”
But Vivi has already faced a lot in her young life. At 5 weeks old, Vivi was diagnosed with biliary atresia, a disease of the liver and bile ducts. Vivi became very sick, and it was determined that her only hope was a liver transplant. Because of her blood type, she might have needed to wait up to a year on the transplant wait list before a liver was available. Vivi didn’t have that much time.
Thankfully, her dad, Gabe, was a match, and he was able to be a living donor, giving Vivi part of his liver.
Our incredible transplant team went to work, saving Vivi’s life. Even when complications arose, the team was able to find a solution and keep Vivi’s tiny body from rejecting her new liver.
Vivi is an inspiration to us all, and was your 2017 Summer Scamper Patient Hero representing transplant research. In addition to sharing their story, Vivi’s family raised an incredible $20,000 to support other transplant patients at Packard Children’s.
