Generation Patient’s میزگردی با موضوع جوانان مبتلا به بیماری‌های مزمن brought together a learning community of young adult patients, health care professionals, caregivers, researchers, policymakers, advocates, and others to explore the most pressing systems-level challenges impacting young adults living with chronic and rare conditions (see video recording below).

Co-authored by young adults with chronic conditions and members of the project team, proceedings for each roundtable will highlight key insights and actionable recommendations based on the roundtable discussion, and will be disseminated through peer-reviewed journals.

To address the high prevalence of loneliness amid physical and mental health struggles among young adults with chronic conditions, the fourth roundtable focused on peer support interventions for young adults with chronic conditions. Participants shared personal experiences and identified gaps and future considerations for peer support intervention facilitation, research, and funding.

Roundtable #4 co-leaders:

  • Alexis Gomez, a young adult patient
  • Dr. Gary Maslow, M.D., M.P.H., Gorrell Family Distinguished Professor in Children’s Psychiatry and Division Director of Child and Family Mental Health and Community Psychiatry, Duke University School of Medicine
