Building a Statewide Organization of CCS Medical Consultants
Organization: Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford
Primary Contact: Laurie Soman, MSW
Grant Amount: $10,715 for 6 months
Date Awarded:
Purpose
To establish the organizational structure and an agenda of common goals for a statewide organization of physicians working for county CCS programs.
Outcome
This grant provided support to plan a statewide network linking the medical consultants from county California Children’s Services (CCS) programs. Such an organization was felt to be needed in order to better standardize medical eligibility determinations, diagnostic codes and other processes central to CCS program operations. The grantee, the Children’s Regional Integrated Service System (CRISS) under the auspices of the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, succeeded in developing a governance structure for a statewide CCS Medical Advisory Council, convened medical consultants from 30 independent counties, and formed several task forces charged with addressing priority issues. Subsequently, additional support was provided to this new organization.
