‘Tis the season! The holidays are a special time to spread joy through giving back to the community. Each year, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford hosts opportunities where community members can support the patients and families we serve. Check out some of our Holiday Champions for examples of how you can get involved.
Stanford Hospital Nurses Spread the Joy
Nurses from Stanford Hospital’s general surgery, urology, gynecological and gyn-oncology inpatient unit—a unit known as F3—have given to our hospital by holding a holiday party with a giving tree and donating toys and games to our Holiday Workshop.
“The staff on F3 at Stanford Health Care was particularly excited to celebrate the holidays together, and wanted to do something special,” remarks Jean-Yee Yu, RN. “What better way to fulfill this wish than to participate in a local toy drive! Our team could not have been more appreciative and happy to have participated in this event.”
Jean-Yee’s team was able to collect numerous age-appropriate gifts, ranging from mini-Lego kits to Fisher-Price mobiles.
“There really is no better way to spread holiday cheer,” says Jean-Yee.
Thank you, Jean-Yee and F3 nurses for your enthusiastic participation in the Holiday Workshop!
If Tina Can Do It, You “Can”, Too!
Tina collected cans and bottles to bring cheer to Packard Children’s. She collected items from friends and family and brought them to a recycling center. With the money she received from the recyclables, she purchased some of our patients’ favorite items such as toys and art supplies. This will be Tina’s fifth year joining us for our Holiday Workshop, where community members can drop off new, unwrapped gifts for Packard Children’s patients.
We are grateful for our environmentally thoughtful friend!
Tiffani’s Toy Drive
Last year, Tiffani’s family came all the way from Nevada to deliver two truckloads of toys! Tiffani and her sister Bailee started a toy drive while Tiffani was receiving treatment for brain cancer five years ago. During this time, toys were gathered to donate to fellow patients at Packard Children’s. Though Tiffani has passed away, her legacy lives on through Bailee’s continued efforts with Tiffani’s Toy Drive. Bailee collects toys from her gym, church, and local community members in honor of her sister.
Thank you for your incredible donations, Bailee! You can learn more about Tiffani’s Toy Drive in this video.
