Purpose
The Medicaid program covers two in five children in the United States and half of all children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN). If proposals for significant reductions in federal Medicaid spending are adopted, the barriers to care experienced by CYSHCN and their families could be exacerbated.
In this project, Manatt will examine the impact of potential reductions in federal Medicaid spending for children and youth, including CYSHCN, with the goal of protecting access to care for this population. Manatt will model the proposals of greatest importance and provide estimates of the implications on key outcomes at the national and California level. A national report describing key federal proposals and considerations and a California-specific presentation on how federal proposals would impact California’s children will be produced. The team will also host a webinar highlighting the findings.
