Objetivo

Children with medical complexity (CMC) have complex and chronic health conditions, functional impairments, substantial care needs, and high health resource utilization. Recent state and federal policy changes, including reductions in Medicaid funding and coverage for home and community-based care, may impair access to and quality of care for CMC.

Boston Children’s Hospital, in partnership with the Children’s Hospital Association, will generate timely, policy-relevant research to help advocates, clinicians, health care administrators, and policymakers better understand and respond to proposed and enacted policy changes. Activities will include analyses of health care access and utilization by CMC and identification of pressing health policy priorities for CMC that require urgent action at the state and federal level. This project will result in the creation of an advocacy toolkit and fact sheets that can be used to inform policy advocacy efforts.
