Pediatric Complex Care Seminar Session 9: Aspiration

This webinar is part nine of a 10-part seminar series entitled Collaborative Conversations with Families to Advance the Clinical Care of Children with Medical Complexities and Disabilities (C6). The series is led by complex care pediatricians from the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and Lurie Children’s Hospital, and representatives from Family Voices.

In this session Kathy McClelland, Katy Peck, and Dr. Christpher Russell discuss aspiration in the care of children with medical complexity.

Speakers

Kathy McClelland

Kathy is a freelance copywriter and marketer for pediatric healthcare and special education brands from Austin, Texas. Before becoming a mom, her work included promoting medical journals and online publications for the American Academy of Pediatrics and parenting books for Tyndale House Publishers. When her second son was born with a rare genetic condition, she was thrust into the world of special needs parenting. Her website is kathymcopywriting.com.

Katy Peck

Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, Certified Lactation Counselor, and Certified Brain Injury Specialist at Children's Hospital Los Angeles

Katy is an expert clinician, accomplished author, experienced professor, and well-known presenter in specialty areas of practice. She has been practicing at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for over 15 years with recent program development including FEES Clinic, Aerodigestive Team, co-lead of a pilot NG for Home Program, and Growth Advancement in NICCU (GAIN) initiative.

Dr. Christopher Russell

Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the Division of Hospital Medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles

As a pediatric hospitalist, Dr. Russell has clinical expertise in the acute medical management and coordination of care for children with medical complexity. The overall objective of his work is to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of bacterial respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia, in children with complex medical conditions.
