Analysis of Family Engagement in California’s Policymaking

Purpose
Public policymaking is improved when families’ perspectives are included. Such inclusion is especially important when the health and well-being of more vulnerable children, those with chronic and complex conditions, will be affected. Inclusion can happen only when legislators, administrators, and other decisionmakers meaningfully engage with families of these children or with youth directly. Children Now will ensure release of an official government report that provides baseline data on all opportunities for family engagement in child-related policymaking within California agencies serving children.
