Generation Patient Roundtable: Clinical Trials and Young Adults
Generation Patient’s مائدة مستديرة حول الشباب المصابين بأمراض مزمنة brought together a learning community of young adult patients, health care professionals, caregivers, researchers, policymakers, advocates, and others to explore the most pressing systems-level challenges impacting young adults living with chronic and rare conditions (see video recording below).
Co-authored by young adults with chronic conditions and members of the project team, proceedings for each roundtable will highlight key insights and actionable recommendations based on the roundtable discussion, and will be disseminated through peer-reviewed journals.
Roundtable six addressed the lack of representation of young adults with chronic conditions in clinical trials and research. This population’s distinct physiological, developmental, and lived experiences are often obscured in research by age aggregation and a lack of tailored outcome measures.
Roundtable #6 co-leaders:
- Rose Keller, a young adult patient
- Alicia Bazzano, M.D., M.P.H., Chief Health Officer, Special Olympics
