Generation Patient’s Круглый стол по вопросам молодых людей с хроническими заболеваниями brought together a learning community of young adult patients, health care professionals, caregivers, researchers, policymakers, advocates, and others to explore the most pressing systems-level challenges impacting young adults living with chronic and rare conditions (see video recording below).

Co-authored by young adults with chronic conditions and members of the project team, proceedings for each roundtable will highlight key insights and actionable recommendations based on the roundtable discussion, and will be disseminated through peer-reviewed journals.

The focus of the third roundtable discussion was about misconceptions of young adults with chronic illness and the power imbalance that can sometimes exist between providers and young adult patients. Participants also talked about ageism, ableism, stereotyping, and their relation to diagnostic delays and misdiagnosis.

Roundtable #3 co-leaders:

  • Katherine Melton, Ph.D., R.N., nurse scientist from Boston Children’s Hospital
  • Sydney Reed, co-founder of Generation Patient
