A young woman with long dark hair smiles while standing behind a table at an outdoor market, displaying her handmade pom-pom headband collection. The table is covered with dozens of colorful headbands featuring rhinestone animal charms in a wide variety of pom-pom colors including pink, red, blue, purple, black, and white.

For over a decade, 17-year-old Maisy Garnett has been raising money to support children at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in a fun and creative way.

At just 7 years old, Maisy began making and selling fur pom-pom and rhinestone headbands called Maisy Puffs. What started as a simple idea quickly grew into something much bigger. As she got older, Maisy began designing her own artwork for the rhinestone decals, transforming her creativity into philanthropy. To date, she has donated more than $21,000 from her proceeds to pediatric cancer research at our hospital.

Four rhinestone-embellished headbands displayed on a gray velvet jewelry stand, each topped with a fluffy pom-pom. The headbands feature sparkly animal charms: a yellow rubber duck, a blue owl with a heart, a pink unicorn with a rainbow mane, and a silver unicorn. Pom-poms range from light pink to hot pink and coral.

Maisy started Maisy Puffs out of a desire to help young patients undergoing cancer treatment. It enabled her to raise money for a cure while also creating headbands that would help children feel confident and beautiful.

“Being able to help all children feel seen, regardless of who they are, while working through a creative process I love, is the best opportunity I could ever ask for,” Maisy says.

Maisy Puffs come in an assortment of bright colors and bling, adorned with sparkly icons such as unicorns, narwhals, turtles, and ice cream cones.

Maisy sells them at school events, pop-up shops, and sports games for $25 to $30.
