Recently, Team G Childhood Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit organization formed by patient families affected by childhood cancer, came by our hospital to deliver not one, not two, but THREE giant checks totaling $61,177! These crucial funds will support groundbreaking childhood cancer research being conducted by three extraordinary researchers: Kara Davis, DO, Crystal Mackall, MD, and Sheri Spunt, MD, MBA.
Team G organizes a variety of fundraisers including bake sales, dining events, and happy hours. The majority of this gift came from a fundraiser with the Bay Club, a health and fitness club. Throughout the month of September, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and National Yoga Month, Team G's Gina Rodriguez organized yoga events with the Bay Club in honor of childhood cancer patients like her 5-year-old daughter, Sofia.
With this gift, Team G will have given over $188,000 to support childhood cancer research since 2013 to our hospital and others including UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, Seattle Children’s, University of California Santa Cruz, and Cookies for Cancer. We are so grateful for this gift that will help more patients like Sofia (front left) and Gabriella (front right).
