Ann and Charles Johnson

For decades, Ann and Charles Johnson have been champions of extraordinary care at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. Their generosity established the Johnson Center for Pregnancy and Newborn Services, setting a new standard for maternal and infant health. Now, with their most recent gift to endow the Ann and Charles Johnson Directorship for Prematurity Research, they are ensuring strong, sustained leadership at the Prematurity Research Center—accelerating pioneering discoveries that will shape the future of neonatal care for generations to come.

With renowned neonatologist David K. Stevenson, MD, as its inaugural holder, this directorship ensures visionary leadership for world-class research advancing the prediction, prevention, and treatment of preterm birth. “Ann and Charles’ generosity is building a brighter future for our smallest patients,” says Stevenson. “Their support fuels breakthroughs that will help more babies thrive, and we are deeply grateful.”

Meanwhile, the West building transformation is creating a state-of-the-art home for maternal and infant care. With this gift, the Johnsons are amplifying that impact, fueling research that will enhance clinical care in these spaces to improve outcomes for infants and families.

Thank you, Ann and Charles, for your vision and ongoing generosity. Your commitment is shaping the future of maternal and newborn health.
