Vòng Học thuật do Gia đình Dẫn đầu (FLAG) flips the traditional grand rounds structure by featuring families of children with medical complexity (CMC) as medical educators. This pilot series focused on ableism in pediatric health care and its impact on CMC and their families.

Partnerships between clinicians and families can help combat the lack of knowledge, assumptions, and apathy that clinicians can sometimes hold towards CMC and their families. Using stories from lived experience that illustrate examples of substandard care, dehumanization, and inaccessibility, the featured speakers of the first FLAG Rounds session outlined how clinical professionals and families together can improve health care for CMC.

Speakers:

  • Cara Coleman, JD, MPH
  • Danielle Gerber
